If you have ever thought about obtaining your real estate license, now is the time to get the education you need to pass the state exam and be ready for the spring market.

The Conway School of Real Estate offers two options at its Lakeville training center on Rte. 105 near the intersection of Rte. 495 – a twice weekly class on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, or a convenient Saturday-only class that will put you on the fast track to success.

The next weeknight class meets on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. beginning on March 19. The start time of the class allows commuters on the Old Colony train ample time to get to the Conway building, which is at the entrance to the access road to the MBTA station. The 40 hours of instruction concludes on May 2. Tuition is $375, which includes textbooks, sample exams, and all materials.

The Saturday-only “fast track” course is designed to be completed in five weeks, beginning on March 16 and ending on April 13. The class will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The weeknight course will be taught by Denis Lilla, a regional vice president at Conway, who has decades of experience in the real estate industry. The weekend session’s instructor is Jeffrey D. Chute, a well-known trainer and Conway associate who is a past Educator of the Year for the Massachusetts Association of Realtors.

Taking the course with Conway does not obligate you to join the company, but students of the Conway School of Real Estate have the opportunity to receive career advice from the company’s sales managers.

Completing the 40 hours of learning qualifies students to take the Massachusetts state licensing examination. Your success is guaranteed! Conway students may retake the course at no charge if they do not pass the exam on their first attempt, as long as the test is taken within 45 days of completing the course.

Jack Conway & Co. is celebrating its 57th anniversary, with 40 sales offices from the North Shore to Boston, Cape Cod and the South Coast. The company also operates New England Mortgage Professionals, a joint venture with PNC Bank that provides a full range of financing options to buyers.

Jack Conway Relocation Director Dawn Stevens recently attained the international credential of Certified Relocation Professional (CRP), a highly coveted designation in her field. Stevens earned her certification after passing the May 9 CRP exam given by the Worldwide ERC (The Workforce Mobility Association) at the Marriott Hotel in Newton.

“I wanted the knowledge that the CRP credential stands for more than the title itself,” said Stevens, who heads the Relocation Division of the Jack Conway Real Estate Company, headquartered in Norwell. “I learned so much about the U.S. domestic relocation industry and the whole gamut of issues involved in corporate transfers, including third party relocations and global moves. I’m so excited to have my CRP training and designation.”

More than 250 candidates were tested across the country on their knowledge of relocation appraising, real estate, corporate mobility policies, tax and legal issues, family moves and relocation strategies. The 2012 Worldwide ERC exam was given in 15 locations throughout the nation.

The Worldwide ERC is the leading authority on workforce mobility in the U.S. and abroad. Based in Washington, D.C. the organization has offices in Brussels, Belgium, and Shanghai, China.

Boston Logic Trains Conway Agents

A room full of Conway agents learn database management skills at a recent Superstars program.

The most recent edition of the Conway Superstars educational program featured a Database Management training class from Boston Logic trainer Kate Curtis.

A packed room of Conway agents and managers listened attentively about using the products and services available on jackconway.com’s dashboard and back end, powered by Boston Logic’s Sequoia system.

“Communication with customers is diverse and presenting the message clearly is so important,” said Curtis. “You need to manage this part of your business effectively, and be persistent.”

The Conway and Boston Logic partnership is now two years old. The 56-year old real estate company and the downtown Boston real estate technology provider have formed a solid partnership, and the result is one of the best real estate websites in the market.

“What we’ve grown with the support of Boston Logic is a system that includes all the tools a Realtor needs in this environment,” said Conway Marketing Director Al Becker. “Agents have a complete dashboard with customer tools and database marketing features. And the success of the front end of the website has been well documented with a huge increase in leads and strong growth in search engine placement.”

Curtis trained Conway agents on entering leads, emailing via the website and best practices for communication. The cutting-edge tool provides agents and customers with MLS access, market sales data and property updates.

“This system is so easy to use, and it’s very intuitive,” said Conway-Abington agent Jim Tangherlini. “It’s one of the great tools Conway has to offer, and it’s very useful for my business.”

Free Ongoing Education for Realtors at Jack Conway & Company

Matt Ferrara presenting to Conway Agent

Matt Ferrara Visits Norwell Office

The Jack Conway training center in Norwell was jam-packed last week as the management team spent the day with highly-acclaimed real estate trainer Matt Ferrara.

Ferrara worked with managers on strategies for building market share through selecting new agents and developing the current sales force.

“An organization like this is doing it correctly,” said Ferrara as he spoke with the 40-plus managers on the leadership team. “But looking at these important issues from a different angle brings the kind of diversity and strength that you need to build on the success Conway has had for so many years.”

Ferrara  has worked all over the world  training real estate agents, teachers, technology entrepreneurs and global sales organizations. Like he did at Conway, Ferrara prepares his clients for the challenges of the next generation of consumers, markets and technologies.

“We’ve been focused so much on growth internally and externally, and we felt this was something worthwhile to help our management team,” said Conway CEO Carol Bulman. “Matt really helped us focus on our future efforts, and it was a refreshing experience.”

The Conway School of Real Estate’s latest continuing-education courses for real estate licensees include evening classes designed for those agents who prefer to attend programs after traditional business hours.

The courses are open to all of the state’s real estate agents – whether active or inactive – and will help satisfy the state’s continuing-education requirements for license renewal.

The evening classes were added to the schedule in response to feedback from Realtors who said that other commitments often prevent them from enrolling in daytime programs, and represent Conway’s commitment to flexibility in meeting the needs of agents in the field.

The evening courses, to be held from 6-8 p.m., will include “Zoning and Building Codes” on Monday, June 25 at the Norwell Learning Center, 137 Washington St., and “Selling Historic Homes” on Monday, July 16 at the Lakeville Learning Center, 10 Main St.

The classes are open to all real estate agents, and each will result in two credit hours toward fulfilling the state’s 12-hour continuing education requirement.

The cost for each course is $20. To register, visit www.jackconway.com/continuing-education, or call 781-871-0080, ext. 342 for more information.

Local attorney David Spillane, second from left, shows Conway agents, from left, Vin Pivnicny, Kathy Marini and Danielle LeBlanc, some information on short sales.

South Shore Attorney David Spillane recently taught a course on foreclosures and short sales to a packed classroom of Jack Conway Realtors at the company’s Norwell headquarters. The 2-hour session, arranged by Conway Director of Agent Services Christopher Haraden, awarded two continuing education credits to the attendees toward their state-mandated requirements for license renewal.

“Attorney Spillane engaged us all with his dynamic speaking skills and knowledge of the subject,” said Chairman Jack Conway, who took the course along with his associates. “He explained the foreclosure and short sale processes from the expert standpoint of a lawyer who works with banks and homeowners on these transactions all the time. We were delighted to have him teach at our school.”

More than 300 Conway sales agents also earned continuing education credits for courses they took at the Conway Country Annual Convention held on Feb. 3 at the Quincy Marriott Hotel. The event kicked off with an instructional workshop by international real estate coach Matt Ferrara, who discussed social media and the new technologies, and was followed by other training sessions held throughout the day.

“Our company has always believed in the concept of lifelong learning,” said Haraden. “And we are more than happy to help our agents get the continuing education credits they need to meet the state requirements.”
