JACK CONWAY & CO. REALTORS NAMED “OUTSTANDING BUSINESS”

Boston Jack Conway & Co. Realtors Dorchester office has received this year’s Boston Main Streets Outstanding Business Award. Mayor Thomas Menino presented the citation to Julie Simmons, Manager of the Dorchester Avenue office at a recent awards celebration held at the Boston Public Library, Popular Reading Room.

“This is a great honor for us,” said Simmons. “Jack and our entire company understand the importance of giving back to our communities and we are very pleased to be recognized for our efforts.”

Each year each Main Streets district selects one volunteer and one business to be honored for their distinguished participation in their neighborhood district. The commendation reads, in part: “Your individual contributions and dedication to your local community have proven you to be an extraordinary business in your district.”

In a letter to Chairman Jack Conway, Boston Main streets said, “the well-being of the city’s neighborhood commercial districts depends upon business owners committing thousands of hours to their customers and community. Businesses such as yours enable all of us to achieve the goal of having vibrant commercial districts throughout the city.”

The Jack Conway & Co. Dorchester office is a partner with SCI/Dorchester Youth Council, DotWell, Codman Square Health Center, and Dorchester Multi-Service Center.

Conway has been in business at their 1810 Dorchester Avenue location for over 10 years, and recently purchased their 2200 square foot office space.

Honored for preserving former Wood Grain Store
Norton, MA– During the recent Norton Historical Commission’s Third Annual Historic Preservation Awards Ceremony, Jack Conway, Chairman of Jack Conway & Co. Realtors was presented with a certificate of recognition for remodeling and preserving the 100-year-old Wood Grain Store on East Main Street where one of Conway’s 45 sales offices is located.

The awards recognize the efforts of individuals and organizations for their efforts in preserving the historic resources of the town. The certificate reads in part, “ In grateful appreciation for your efforts and contributions in preservation of The Wood Grain Store.” A total of 13 individuals received awards, including two students and a Norton Middle School teacher.

Jack Conway & Co. financed the entire renovation of the former store which included moving the structure about 100 feet, strengthening the foundation and frame, and updating all of the electrical, water and gas systems. “ We understood the historical significance of preserving this old building,” said Conway. “ It was a major effort but well worth it, and we’re very pleased with the results.”

In addition to the Jack Conway & Co. office, the building is also home to a medical office and three other corporate tenants.
