Jamaica Pond is the largest body of freshwater in Boston, and Franklin Park, which includes a popular zoo, is the largest park. The Esplanade is another recreational area located on the border of the Charles River. It houses the Hatch Shell, an outdoor performance venue, which is the site of the annual 4th of July celebration featuring the Boston Pops Orchestra and a fireworks display.
