Getting Your Home Ready To Show

1. First Impressions Are The Most Lasting
Remember when a prospect comes to view your home their first impression is lasting. Your front lawn and other landscaping should be mowed and neatly trimmed. Make sure your yard is clean of refuse and leaves. The walkway and steps should be swept, and, in winter, free of ice and snow. The front door must be clean or freshly painted the doorbell in working order.
2. Decorate For Quicker Sale
Faded walls and scuffed woodwork reduces appeal. Why describe how your house could look when you can show how it looks with just a reasonable amount of redecoration. A minor investment just in paint and wallpaper will bring bigger dividends to you in the form of a better price and quicker sale.
3. Let The Sun Shine In
Open the drapes, curtains and shades. Clean the windows so the prospective buyers can see how light and bright your home is. Dark dreary rooms do not appeal to most home-buying prospects.
4. Dripping Faucets
Fix leaky faucets and toilets. Dripping water suggests faulty or worn-out plumbing.
5. The Little Things Count
Loose doorknobs, cabinet handles, sticking doors and drawers, stuck windows or wobbly knobs - are all negative first impressions. Take the time to go around and check and repair all these things even if you think they are minor.
6. Safety First
Always keep stairways and corridors clean and clear of clutter. For added safety make sure toys skateboards, roller blades and low-riding cycles are put away.
7. Show Your Home From Top To Bottom
Why not let prospects see the full value of your attic right down to the basement, garage and any other storage space you have by removing junk, cartons and any unused items. Neatly stack boxes, books and any other treasures.
8. Closets, Closets, Closets
Everyone loves closets; make them look even bigger by having them clean, neat and well organized. Remove anything that takes away from the spacious look.
9. Bathrooms Sell Homes
Make your bathroom(s) sparkle. Clean rust stained sinks and tub area and replace any discolored caulking. Make certain that all light bulbs work and put out a fresh set of towels.
10. Cheerful Bedrooms
Keep bedrooms bright and cheerful. Use attractive and colorful bed linens and spreads. You can achieve this lasting impression inexpensively. Remove any excess furniture to avoid the crowded look.
