Making a Difference for Our Communities
At Jack Conway, we love shining a light on local businesses that are making a real difference. This month, we’re proud to feature RECOLOR® Paints, a Hanover-based company turning leftover paint into a tool for environmental and community improvement.
Keeping Hanover and Surrounding Communities Cleaner
Founded in 2009 by two women with expertise in painting, design, and biochemistry, RECOLOR® identified a critical environmental problem: millions of gallons of paint are discarded each year, often ending up in landfills or polluting waterways.
Instead of letting usable paint go to waste, RECOLOR® began collecting leftover paint from homeowners, local painters, and municipalities. Their mission: recycle and repurpose paint to reduce waste and promote eco-friendly practices in the community.
Over the years, this initiative has grown into a coordinated paint recycling program involving cities, towns, and recycling centers. By keeping recyclable paint out of landfills, RECOLOR® is helping protect local waterways, reduce environmental impact, and make neighborhoods cleaner and healthier.
Supporting Affordable Housing Through Recycled Paint
RECOLOR®’s impact extends beyond recycling. In partnership with Habitat for Humanity, the company provides recycled paint to ReStores, supporting affordable housing projects nationwide. Every gallon of paint collected and reused contributes directly to home improvement projects, strengthening communities and families while promoting sustainable living practices.
Recently, members of RECOLOR® Paints traveled to Austin, Texas, to take part in the Carter Work Project, a weeklong event organized by Habitat for Humanity. Working alongside volunteers and future homeowners, the RECOLOR® team helped build 25 new homes in just one week, a powerful example of how sustainable practices and community action can come together to make a lasting difference.
From Hanover Roots to a National Presence
While RECOLOR® calls Hanover, Massachusetts home, the company’s mission and reach extend far beyond New England. What began as a small local initiative has grown into a national presence, with RECOLOR® paints now available through retail partners and community programs across the country. Their continued expansion reflects a growing commitment to environmental responsibility, innovation, and community engagement on a larger scale.
How Local Businesses Can Make a Difference
The story of RECOLOR® demonstrates that small, local businesses can have a big environmental and social impact. Under the leadership of Founder/CEO Tania Keeble, RECOLOR® continues to expand its mission, finding new ways to make paint recycling more accessible and to strengthen partnerships that benefit local communities.
By embracing sustainability and community care, RECOLOR® is setting an example of how businesses can recycle, reduce waste, and inspire positive change.
At Jack Conway, we believe that caring for your home goes hand in hand with caring for your community and the environment. Recycling paint is a simple but powerful way to make a difference.
