Jack Conway President and Chief Operating Officer Al Becker represented the company at CMLS Open House 2026, held September 29 through October 1 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, joining real estate leaders from across the country for conversations about the future of the industry.
Hosted by the Council of Multiple Listing Services (CMLS), the annual conference brought together MLS executives, brokerage leaders and technology professionals to examine the issues shaping organized real estate. This year's agenda explored the evolving role of Multiple Listing Services (MLSs), emerging technology, governance and the changing needs of brokerages and consumers.
Al participated in "The View from the Brokerage," a main-stage panel examining where MLS organizations provide essential value, how brokerage needs are changing and how the MLS model can continue evolving to support the businesses that rely on it.
Joining Al on the panel were Dennis Cestra Jr., Gretchen Rosenberg, Holly Mabery and Paul Boomsma, bringing together perspectives from brokerage leaders across the country.
Sharing a Brokerage Perspective on MLS Governance
As technology continues to influence how real estate companies operate, the relationship between brokerages and MLS organizations remains an important industry conversation. The panel explored the value MLSs provide today, where brokerage expectations are evolving and how organizations can adapt to serve a variety of business models.
Drawing on his experience as President and COO of Jack Conway Real Estate, Al shared his perspective on working with MLS Property Information Network (MLS PIN), Massachusetts' broker-owned multiple listing service.
As reported by HousingWire following the conference, Al highlighted the responsiveness Jack Conway experiences through MLS PIN while emphasizing the importance of governance structures that recognize different brokerage needs and business models.
"MLS responsiveness is immediate for us, so we are fortunate in that way, but right now, I think there is an opportunity to make sure that you have organizations, bylaws and governance structures that create opportunities or at least meet the opportunities that brokers need while also making sure that it is a level playing field for all companies that maybe don't have new opportunities or have different business models."

His comments highlighted the importance of balancing innovation with a fair and responsive marketplace, particularly as brokerages develop new approaches to serving their clients.
Representing Jack Conway in a National Industry Discussion
CMLS Open House provided an opportunity for brokerage and MLS leaders to exchange perspectives on the decisions shaping the future of organized real estate. Throughout the conference, discussions addressed the role of technology, data access, transparency and the long-term value of MLS organizations.
Al's participation brought the perspective of an independent, family-owned Massachusetts brokerage into a national conversation involving real estate leaders from organizations of varying sizes and business models.
For Jack Conway, participating in these discussions reflects the importance of staying engaged with the developments influencing the real estate industry. As the marketplace continues to evolve, the perspectives of brokerage leaders remain valuable to conversations about how MLS organizations can best serve the professionals who depend on them.
